About Equal Opportunity Cell
The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) of D. Y. Patil Agriculture and Technical University is established to promote equality, inclusiveness, and non-discrimination within the university community. The Cell functions in accordance with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and aims to ensure that students and employees from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds are provided equal access to educational opportunities and institutional resources.
The Equal Opportunity Cell works to create a supportive and inclusive campus environment by addressing issues related to discrimination, inequality, and accessibility. The Cell focuses particularly on supporting students from socially and economically disadvantaged groups, including SC, ST, OBC, minorities, women, and persons with disabilities, ensuring that they receive appropriate guidance, support services, and academic opportunities.
Through awareness programmes, mentoring initiatives, and grievance redressal mechanisms, the Equal Opportunity Cell promotes fairness, social justice, and equal participation in academic and co-curricular activities across the university.

Functions of the Committee
The Equal Opportunity Cell shall:
- Promote equality and inclusiveness among students and staff within the university.
- Provide support and guidance to students belonging to socially and economically disadvantaged groups.
- Address complaints related to discrimination, harassment, or denial of equal opportunities.
- Facilitate access to scholarships, fellowships, and welfare schemes for eligible students.
- Conduct awareness programmes, seminars, and workshops on equality, diversity, and social justice.
- Coordinate with other university committees and administrative units to ensure inclusive policies and practices.
- Monitor the implementation of government policies and institutional measures related to equal opportunity.
Duties & Responsibilities
Members of the Equal Opportunity Cell shall:
- Ensure that institutional policies promote equality and non-discrimination.
- Provide counselling and support services to students facing social or economic challenges.
- Facilitate awareness about constitutional rights, social justice, and diversity.
- Address grievances related to discrimination or denial of equal opportunity in a fair and timely manner.
- Encourage participation of students from diverse backgrounds in academic, cultural, and extracurricular activities.
- Maintain records of grievances received and actions taken by the Cell.
- Prepare reports on the activities and initiatives undertaken by the Cell.
Procedure of Functioning
- The Equal Opportunity Cell shall meet periodically as per the yearly meeting calendar provided by IQAC to review issues related to equality and inclusiveness within the university.
- Complaints or requests for support may be submitted to the Cell through written applications or official communication channels.
- The Cell shall review complaints, conduct necessary inquiries, and recommend appropriate action to the university authorities.
- The Cell may organize awareness programmes, mentoring sessions, and outreach activities to promote equal opportunity and inclusiveness.
- Records of meetings, activities, and grievance redressal actions shall be maintained for institutional documentation and reporting purposes.
