About the Committee
D. Y. Patil Agriculture and Technical University, Talsande, reaffirms its commitment to the principles enshrined in the Constitution of India – equality, dignity, and freedom from discrimination.
In line with the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC), National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the University has established a Women Empowerment Committee (WEC) to promote gender equality, ensure safety, and empower women across all academic and administrative domains. The Women Empowerment Committee (WEC) is a statutory and developmental body aimed at:
- Promoting awareness of women’s rights, legal provisions, and equality.
- Creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for female students, faculty, and staff.
- Addressing welfare, safety, and professional development opportunities for women.
- Encouraging participation of women in leadership, academics, and research.
The committee also serves as a support and resource center, fostering leadership qualities and self-confidence among women, and coordinating with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) for policy implementation.

To cultivate a gender-friendly and inclusive university ecosystem that empowers women to achieve excellence, leadership, and holistic development in all spheres of life.
Mission
- Sensitize the university community to issues of gender equity and inclusivity.
- Ensure the safety, dignity, and empowerment of women on campus.
- Promote awareness of women’s rights, legal literacy, and professional development.
- Provide platforms for leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation for women.
- Integrate gender perspectives into institutional planning in line with NEP 2020.

Functions of the Committee
The WEC shall:
- Review and monitor initiatives promoting women’s safety and empowerment.
- Conduct gender sensitization programs for students and staff.
- Offer counselling, guidance, and mentorship to women.
- Organize awareness programs on health, hygiene, and self-defence.
- Collaborate with other committees and external organizations on gender equality.
- Recommend policies to integrate gender perspectives into university planning.
- Report annual activities to IQAC for inclusion in the AQAR (Annual Quality Assurance Report).
Duties & Responsibilities
The WEC is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring initiatives that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment across the university. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and coordinating programs aligned with the university’s gender equity goals.
- Promoting awareness, mentoring, and support for women.
- Organizing workshops, seminars, training, and awareness campaigns.
- Handling grievances confidentially and coordinating with relevant authorities.
- Maintaining records, preparing reports, and monitoring program effectiveness.
- Celebrating significant events highlighting women’s achievements.
- Collaborating with external organizations for broader impact.
Procedure of Functioning
- The committee shall meet at least once every six months or frequently as required.
- The agenda will be circulated in advance, and minutes of meetings will be maintained.
- Grievances will be handled confidentially and referred to ICC when required.
- Records of all programs, events, and outcomes will be maintained digitally and in hard copy.
- Annual activity reports shall be submitted to IQAC and displayed on the university website.
