About the Committee

The Discipline Committee is constituted by the university to maintain discipline, decorum, and ethical conduct among students and staff within the university campus. The committee ensures that the university environment remains safe, respectful, inclusive, and conducive to academic excellence.

The committee operates in accordance with the university’s rules, regulations, code of conduct, and applicable statutory guidelines. It addresses issues related to misconduct, indiscipline, violation of university policies, and behavioural concerns.

The Discipline Committee acts as a regulatory and advisory body to promote responsible conduct and uphold the values of the institution.

The objective of the Discipline Committee:

  • To promote responsible behavior and ethical conduct among students.
  • To prevent acts of indiscipline, misconduct, harassment, or disruption.
  • To ensure fair and transparent inquiry into complaints.
  • To recommend corrective and disciplinary actions when required.
  • To safeguard the rights and well-being of all members of the university community.

Functions of the Committee

The Discipline Committee performs the following key functions:

  • Enforcing the university Code of Conduct.
  • Reviewing complaints related to student misconduct.
  • Investigating reported cases of indiscipline.
  • Conducting hearings and recording statements.
  • Recommending appropriate disciplinary actions.
  • Promoting awareness programs on discipline and ethics.
  • Coordinating with other statutory committees when required.
  • Monitoring compliance with disciplinary decisions.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities of a Member

  • Attend meetings regularly and actively participate.
  • Review case materials before hearings.
  • Maintain neutrality and avoid conflicts of interest.
  • Respect the confidentiality of cases.
  • Assist in drafting recommendations and reports.

Responsibilities of the Committee

  • Ensure fair and unbiased inquiry into complaints.
  • Maintain confidentiality in disciplinary proceedings.
  • Provide an opportunity for a hearing to the concerned parties.
  • Recommend proportionate disciplinary action.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records of proceedings.
  • Submit periodic reports to the University authorities.

Procedure of Functioning

How the committee works

  1. Receipt of Complaint

Complaints may be submitted in writing to the Chairperson/Member Secretary or through official email. Anonymous complaints may be reviewed based on merit.

  1. Preliminary Review

The committee conducts an initial review to determine whether the complaint falls under its jurisdiction.

  1. Notice to Concerned Parties

If required, a written notice is issued to the concerned individual seeking an explanation.

  1. Inquiry Process
  • Collection of statements and evidence
  • Personal hearing (if necessary)
  • Review of relevant documents
    1. Decision & Recommendation

The committee deliberates and recommends appropriate disciplinary action to the competent authority.

  1. Implementation

Upon approval by the competent authority, the decision is implemented.



Meeting Frequency

Committee meetings will be held as per the yearly calendar provided by IQAC.
