About the Committee

The Sports Committee of D. Y. Patil Agriculture and Technical University is responsible for organizing and implementing sports and physical activity programmes within the university. The Committee works under the guidance of the Board of Sports and Physical Education and focuses on encouraging student participation in sports and promoting a healthy and active campus environment.

The Committee organizes intra-university tournaments, training sessions, fitness programmes, and sports events. It also coordinates participation of students in inter-collegiate and inter-university competitions while promoting teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship among students.

Functions of the Committee

The Sports Committee shall:

  • Organize sports tournaments, competitions, and recreational activities for students.
  • Coordinate training programmes and coaching sessions for various sports disciplines.
  • Select and prepare teams for inter-college, inter-university, and national competitions.
  • Manage sports facilities, equipment, and grounds of the university.
  • Encourage student participation in sports and fitness programmes.
  • Coordinate with academic departments to ensure balanced participation in sports and academics.
  • Maintain records of sports events, achievements, and participation.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Committee members shall:

  • Plan and conduct annual sports events and tournaments.
  • Identify talented athletes and support their participation in competitions.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of sports facilities and equipment.
  • Promote awareness regarding the importance of physical fitness and sports.
  • Assist in organizing coaching camps and training sessions.
  • Maintain records of sports activities and student participation.
  • Prepare reports on sports activities and achievements for the university administration.

 

Procedure of Functioning

  • The Sports Committee shall prepare an annual calendar of sports activities.
  • Meetings shall be conducted periodically to plan and review sports programmes.
  • Sports events and tournaments shall be organized according to the approved schedule.
  • Student teams shall be selected based on trials and performance.
  • The Committee shall coordinate with the Board of Sports and Physical Education for policy guidance.
  • Reports of sports activities and achievements shall be documented and submitted to the University administration.
