About the Committee

The University Knowledge Resource Centre (Library) Committee of D. Y. Patil Agriculture and Technical University is responsible for overseeing the development, management, and effective utilization of the university’s library and knowledge resources. The committee ensures that the Knowledge Resource Centre supports the academic, research, and learning needs of students, faculty members, and researchers.

The committee works to strengthen the library infrastructure by facilitating access to print and digital resources, including books, journals, research databases, e-resources, and learning materials. It also promotes modern library services such as digital libraries, institutional repositories, and information literacy programmes.

The committee plays a key role in recommending policies for library development, resource acquisition, and the adoption of emerging technologies that enhance learning and research activities within the university.

Functions of the Committee

The University Knowledge Resource Centre (Library) Committee shall:

  1. Develop policies and guidelines for the effective functioning of the university library.
  2. Recommend acquisition of books, journals, e-resources, and other learning materials.
  3. Review and monitor the utilization of library resources and services.
  4. Promote the use of digital libraries, online databases, and electronic resources.
  5. Support initiatives for research assistance, reference services, and information literacy programmes.
  6. Facilitate the development of institutional repositories and digital knowledge platforms.
  7. Ensure proper maintenance and upgradation of library infrastructure and facilities.
  8. Encourage collaboration with national and international knowledge networks and library consortia.

Duties & Responsibilities

Members of the Library Committee shall:

  1. Provide guidance for the development and modernization of the Knowledge Resource Centre.
  2. Identify academic and research resource requirements of students and faculty members.
  3. Review and approve proposals for the acquisition of new library resources.
  4. Promote effective use of library facilities and services.
  5. Encourage the adoption of digital library systems and modern information technologies.
  6. Monitor the functioning of the library and address issues related to resource availability or services.
  7. Maintain records and reports of library activities, resources, and usage.

Procedure of Functioning

  1. The Library Committee shall meet regularly as per the yearly meeting calendar provided by IQAC to review library operations and resource requirements.
  2. Faculty members and departments may submit recommendations for books, journals, and other resources.
  3. The committee shall review and approve resource acquisition proposals based on academic relevance and budget availability.
  4. The committee shall monitor the utilization of library resources and recommend improvements where necessary.
  5. Minutes of meetings and recommendations shall be documented and submitted to the university administration for implementation.
