SC-ST-OBC Committee

About the Committee

The SC–ST–OBC Committee of D. Y. Patil Agriculture and Technical University is constituted to ensure the welfare, protection, and equal opportunities for students and employees belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). The committee works in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Government of India, the University Grants Commission (UGC), and other regulatory authorities.

The committee aims to safeguard the rights and interests of members from these communities and ensure that the university maintains an inclusive and non-discriminatory academic and working environment. It addresses grievances related to discrimination, promotes awareness regarding constitutional rights and government welfare schemes, and ensures effective implementation of reservation policies and support mechanisms.

The committee also works to promote social justice, equality, and empowerment by facilitating access to educational opportunities, scholarships, and institutional support services.

Functions of the Committee

The SC–ST–OBC Committee shall:

  1. Monitor the implementation of reservation policies and government guidelines related to SC, ST, and OBC communities.
  2. Address complaints and grievances related to discrimination or unfair treatment based on caste or social background.
  3. Ensure that institutional policies promote equality and social justice.
  4. Facilitate awareness programmes on constitutional rights, social justice, and government welfare schemes.
  5. Support students from SC, ST, and OBC communities in accessing scholarships, fellowships, and other academic benefits.
  6. Provide guidance and assistance to students regarding educational opportunities and career development.
  7. Maintain records of grievances received and actions taken by the committee.

Duties & Responsibilities

Members of the SC–ST–OBC Committee shall:

  1. Ensure that the rights of SC, ST, and OBC students and employees are protected within the university.
  2. Promote awareness of policies and welfare schemes related to these communities.
  3. Address complaints related to discrimination or social injustice promptly and fairly.
  4. Encourage a culture of respect, equality, and inclusion within the university community.
  5. Coordinate with university administration for effective implementation of reservation policies and welfare measures.
  6. Organize seminars, workshops, and awareness programmes on social justice and equality.
    1. Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of grievances and committee proceedings.

Procedure of Functioning

  1. The SC–ST–OBC Committee shall meet periodically to review issues related to the welfare of these communities within the university.
  2. Complaints may be submitted to the committee through written applications or official communication channels.
  3. The committee shall examine complaints, conduct necessary inquiries, and recommend appropriate action to the university administration.
  4. The committee may organize awareness programmes and workshops to promote equality and social justice.
  5. Records of meetings, complaints, and actions taken shall be maintained for institutional documentation and reporting.
