About the Committee

The University Board of NSS and NCC (Outreach Activities) at D. Y. Patil Agriculture and Technical University (DYP-ATU) serves as the apex body responsible for planning, coordinating, and promoting outreach and community engagement programmes through the National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) units of the university.

The Board works to integrate community service, social responsibility, and national development activities into the educational framework of the university. It provides policy direction and strategic oversight for various extension and outreach initiatives such as rural development programmes, environmental awareness campaigns, health camps, disaster relief activities, and community welfare initiatives.

Through NSS and NCC activities, the Board encourages students to develop leadership qualities, discipline, teamwork, and a strong sense of civic responsibility while contributing to nation-building and community development.

Functions of the Committee

The University Board of NSS and NCC shall:

  1. Formulate policies and guidelines for NSS and NCC activities within the university.
  2. Plan and promote outreach and extension programmes that contribute to community development.
  3. Coordinate activities of NSS units and NCC wings across the university and affiliated institutions.
  4. Encourage participation of students in national service activities, camps, and training programmes.
  5. Promote programmes related to rural development, environmental conservation, health awareness, and social welfare.
  6. Review the performance and achievements of NSS and NCC units periodically.
  7. Facilitate collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations for outreach activities.
  8. Encourage participation of students in national integration camps, youth development programmes, and disaster management initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Members of the Board shall:

  1. Provide strategic direction for NSS and NCC outreach programmes.
  2. Monitor the implementation of outreach and community engagement initiatives.
  3. Encourage participation of students and faculty members in community service activities.
  4. Support the organization of camps, training programmes, and awareness campaigns.
  5. Facilitate coordination between the university, NSS units, and NCC authorities.
  6. Promote initiatives that address social, environmental, and national development issues.
  7. Review reports and achievements of NSS and NCC activities annually.

Procedure of Functioning

  1. The Board shall meet periodically during the academic year to review and plan outreach activities.
  2. NSS and NCC programme coordinators shall present activity plans and progress reports during the meetings.
  3. The Board shall review proposals for outreach programmes, camps, and community development initiatives.
  4. Recommendations of the Board shall be forwarded to the university administration for approval and implementation.
  5. Annual reports on NSS and NCC activities shall be compiled and submitted to the university authorities.
