About the Committee

The Mess Committee of D. Y. Patil Agriculture and Technical University is responsible for supervising the management and operation of hostel mess facilities for students. The committee ensures that nutritious, hygienic, and balanced meals are provided to students residing in university hostels.

The committee works to maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and service while ensuring that meals are prepared according to approved menus and dietary requirements. It also acts as a platform for addressing student feedback and improving the quality of mess services

Functions of the Committee

The Mess Committee shall:

  1. Oversee the functioning of hostel mess facilities.
  2. Monitor the quality, hygiene, and nutritional value of food served in the mess.
  3. Approve and review the mess menu periodically.
  4. Inspect mess facilities, including kitchen, storage areas, and dining halls.
  5. Address complaints or suggestions related to mess services from hostel residents.
  6. Ensure proper procurement and storage of food materials.
  7. Recommend improvements in mess management and service quality.

Duties & Responsibilities

Members of the Mess Committee shall:

  1. Monitor the preparation and serving of meals in the hostel mess.
  2. Ensure adherence to hygiene and food safety standards.
  3. Interact with hostel residents to obtain feedback on food quality and service.
  4. Review menu planning and ensure balanced nutrition in meals.
  5. Inspect kitchen and dining areas regularly.
  6. Coordinate with mess staff or contractors for efficient operations.
  7. Maintain records of meetings, inspections, and corrective actions taken.

Procedure of Functioning

  1. The Mess Committee shall conduct the meeting as per the yearly meeting calendar provided by IQAC to review mess operations and services.
  2. The committee shall conduct regular inspections of mess facilities and kitchen areas.
  3. Student representatives may present feedback regarding food quality and menu preferences.
  4. Necessary recommendations for improvement shall be forwarded to the university administration.
  5. Meeting minutes and inspection reports shall be documented and maintained for record and accountability.
