Dr. Abhishek Lokhande is a materials scientist specializing in the synthesis, characterization, and development of novel and efficient metal chalcogenide nanomaterials and thin films for applications in thin-film solar cells, gas sensors, energy storage, and energy conversion systems.
Dr. Lokhande previously served as a Research Scientist at the Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Chonnam National University, South Korea, in 2019. Prior to this, he earned his Bachelor’s degree (2012) and Master’s degree (2014) in Mechanical Engineering from Shivaji University, India.
In recognition of his research contributions, Dr. Lokhande was elected as a Foreign Young Associate of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences. He has also been consistently recognized among the World’s Top 2% Scientists, according to the Stanford University database, since 2019.
Dr. Lokhande has published more than 130 research articles in Scopus-indexed, peer-reviewed international journals, receiving over 7,500 citations, with an h-index of 51 and an i10-index of 110. His research contributions have also resulted in 10 granted patents, including five Indian, four South Korean, and one U.S. patent.
In addition to his journal publications, he has edited two books published by Springer Nature, contributed seven book chapters, and authored one book on thin-film solar cells and their applications.
Dr. Lokhande actively contributes to the international academic and research community. He serves as a reviewer for more than 20 international peer-reviewed journals and has also been invited to serve as an external referee for Ph.D. thesis evaluations, contributing his expertise to the assessment of doctoral research and scholarly work.
With a strong interdisciplinary research profile spanning materials science, nanotechnology, renewable energy, and advanced energy technologies, Dr. Lokhande continues to contribute to the development of innovative functional materials for next-generation energy, sensing, and conversion applications.
