BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Vinayak Ganapati Parale is an internationally recognized materials scientist with more than 15 years of experience in advanced porous materials, aerogels, energy storage, environmental remediation, and sustainable technologies. He currently serves as a Professor and Dean at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and Affiliate member at the International Institute for Sustainability with Chiral and Knotted Metamatter (WPI-SKCM²), Hiroshima University, Japan. Prior to this, he held several academic and research positions at Hiroshima University, Japan and, Yonsei University, South Korea, including Research Professor and Postdoctoral Researcher.

Dr. Parale earned his Ph.D. in Physics from Shivaji University, India, in 2013, where his doctoral research focused on the synthesis and characterization of aerogels and coatings using organosilane compounds. His research career has been devoted to developing advanced functional materials for energy, environmental, and sustainability applications. A prolific scholar, Dr. Parale has authored over 135 peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals (with 90% publications in Q1 journals), accumulating more than 4561 citations, with an h-index of 42 and an i10-index of 97. His research contributions have been published in prestigious journals including Advanced Materials, Chemical Engineering Journal, ACS Nano, Materials Horizons, Nano Energy, Journal of Power Sources and so on.

Throughout his career, Dr. Parale has received numerous honors and distinctions, including the BK 21 Postdoc Fellowship (Korea), CAS President’s International Fellowship (China), the Young Scientist Award (NESIN 2021), the Outstanding Scientist Award (INSO Awards 2022), and recognition among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier in 2025. He was also elected as a Foreign Young Associate of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences in 2025.

Dr. Parale actively contributes to the scientific community through editorial and peer-review activities. He serves as an Academic Editor for the International Journal of Energy Research and holds editorial board positions with several international journals, including npj Soft Matter Scientific Reports, Scientific Reviews, etc. He guest edited several special issues in MDPI Polymers and Gels (Q1 journals). He is also a recognized reviewer for leading journals published by Nature, Elsevier, Springer Nature, ACS, and Wiley.

In addition to his research achievements, Dr. Parale is a sought-after invited speaker who has delivered more than 20 keynote and invited lectures at numerous international conferences, universities, and scientific forums across Asia and beyond. He has also contributed as a session chair, conference organizer, advisory committee member, and mentor to emerging researchers.

His current research focuses on the design and engineering of next-generation aerogels and porous materials for clean energy technologies, environmental sustainability, thermal management, and advanced functional applications. Through interdisciplinary collaborations spanning academia and industry, Dr. Parale continues to advance innovative materials solutions addressing global energy and environmental challenges.
