About the Committee
The Green Campus Committee of D. Y. Patil Agriculture and Technical University is established to promote environmental sustainability and eco-friendly practices within the university campus. The committee works towards creating a clean, green, and sustainable campus environment by encouraging responsible use of natural resources and promoting environmental awareness among students, faculty, and staff.
The committee focuses on initiatives such as tree plantation, waste management, energy conservation, water conservation, biodiversity protection, and sustainable campus development. Through awareness programs, environmental campaigns, and sustainable practices, the committee aims to cultivate environmental responsibility and ecological consciousness within the university community.
The Green Campus Committee also supports the university’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development by aligning campus activities with national and global sustainability goals.

Functions of the Committee
The Green Campus Committee shall:
- Promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students and staff.
- Plan and implement initiatives related to tree plantation, waste management, and campus cleanliness.
- Encourage energy conservation and efficient use of natural resources within the campus.
- Promote water conservation and rainwater harvesting initiatives.
- Facilitate waste segregation, recycling, and environmentally responsible disposal practices.
- Support biodiversity conservation and the development of green spaces within the campus.
- Organize environmental awareness programmes, workshops, and campaigns.
- Monitor the implementation of sustainability initiatives and green policies within the university.
Duties & Responsibilities
Members of the Green Campus Committee shall:
- Develop strategies and action plans for environmental sustainability within the campus.
- Promote participation of students and staff in environmental activities and initiatives.
- Monitor implementation of waste management, energy conservation, and water conservation practices.
- Coordinate with university administration for the implementation of green initiatives and infrastructure development.
- Conduct awareness programmes and campaigns related to environmental protection.
- Encourage adoption of eco-friendly practices in academic and administrative activities.
- Maintain records and documentation of environmental initiatives and activities.
Procedure of Functioning
- The Green Campus Committee shall prepare an annual action plan for sustainability initiatives and environmental activities.
- The committee shall meet regularly as per the yearly meeting calendar provided by IQAC to review the progress of green campus initiatives.
- Environmental awareness programmes, campaigns, and activities shall be organized regularly for students and staff.
- The committee shall coordinate with relevant departments for implementing green infrastructure and sustainability projects.
- Reports and documentation of environmental activities shall be maintained for institutional records and sustainability reporting.
- Recommendations of the committee shall be submitted to the university administration for further implementation.
