The Internship and Entrepreneurship Committee at D. Y. Patil Agriculture & Technical University is a multi-departmental strategic initiative established to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice. This committee serves as the central coordinating body for all internship programs, entrepreneurial ventures, industry partnerships, and career advancement opportunities for students.

The committee brings together faculty from diverse academic departments and the Training and Placement Office to create a cohesive ecosystem for experiential learning and business development.

The committee is established to:

  • Facilitate internship opportunities that provide practical experience aligned with the academic curriculum
  • Foster an entrepreneurial culture and an innovative mindset within the students

To establish D.Y. Patil Agriculture & Technical University as a leading institution recognized for fostering practical competence, entrepreneurial excellence, and industry partnerships that create a dynamic ecosystem where students gain meaningful experience, develop innovation skills, and establish sustainable connections with industry leaders, thereby contributing to their professional success and societal development.

Mission

  • Identify and Facilitate Internship Opportunities: Connect students with organizations across technology, agriculture, and related sectors to provide hands-on learning experiences that complement academic curriculum.
  • Promote Entrepreneurial Culture: Cultivate innovation, creative thinking, and business acumen among students through workshops, mentoring, startup incubation, and support programs that encourage business idea development and execution.
  • Build Strategic Industry Partnerships: Develop and maintain Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and collaborative agreements with reputed organizations, government bodies, and industry leaders for mutual benefit and knowledge exchange.
  • Provide Comprehensive Career Guidance: Offer mentorship, skill development, interview preparation, resume building, and career advancement support to students for successful professional transitions.
  • Monitor, Evaluate, and Improve: Track outcomes, measure impact through metrics and feedback, identify gaps, and continuously improve programs and initiatives to ensure relevance and effectiveness.

The Internship and Entrepreneurship Committee comprise 11 members representing all major academic departments and key administrative functions:

Functions of the Committee

Internship Program Management
  • Identify potential internship opportunities across multiple disciplines and sectors aligned with academic programs.
  • Develop comprehensive internship guidelines, policies, and frameworks.
  • Review and approve internship proposals, placements, and agreements.
  • Facilitate student-organization matching based on skills, interests, and academic background.
  • Provide academic mentoring, guidance, and support during internship periods.
  • Monitor student attendance, performance, and compliance.
  • Conduct evaluation and assessment of students.
  • Maintain records of internships, placements, and student performance.
  • Publish internship guidelines and make them accessible to all departments.
  • Promote an entrepreneurial mindset and innovation culture through awareness campaigns.
  • Identify and nurture student startup ideas and business concepts.
  • Organize startup incubation initiatives, business plan competitions, and events.
  • Provide mentorship to student entrepreneurs and startup teams.
  • Create networking platforms for budding entrepreneurs and industry connections.

Duties & Responsibilities

Chairperson
  • Provide strategic vision and direction for the committee.
  • Approve policies, guidelines, and major initiatives, and make final decisions.
  • Review and authorize MoUs and partnership agreements.
  • Represent the committee in university forums and external engagements.
  • Serve as an escalation point for critical issues and conflicts.
  • Monitor overall committee performance and impact.
  • Engage with senior university leadership on committee matters.
  • Prepare detailed meeting agendas in consultation with the Chairman.
  • Maintain comprehensive official records and minutes of all meetings.
  • Coordinate communication and information flow among committee members.
  • Manage documentation systems and archival procedures.
  • Ensure timely circulation of meeting notices (2-3 days in advance).
  • Maintain action item tracking and follow-up systems.
  • Coordinate with external organizations for scheduling and communication.
