About the Committee / Body

The Board of Examinations is the principal authority of the University responsible for planning, regulating, and supervising the entire examination system. It is entrusted with framing examination-related policies, organizing and conducting examinations, ensuring integrity and fairness in evaluation, and overseeing declaration of results.

The Board ensures continuous improvement of examination systems, adoption of examination reforms, and regulation of examinations conducted at University departments, schools, study centers, and affiliated or recognized centers.

Functions of the Committee

The Board of Examinations performs the following core functions:

  • Acts as the principal authority for examinations of the University
  • Frames policies for organizing, conducting, and improving examinations
  • Prepares and approves the Schedule of Examinations, including theory and practical examinations
  • Oversees conduct of examinations at all University-related centers
  • Ensures timely declaration of results
  • Deals with complaints and grievances related to examination conduct
  • Introduces and monitors examination reforms, including online and distance mode examinations

Duties & Responsibilities

The Board of Examinations shall exercise the following powers and duties:

  1. Ensure proper organization of examinations, including moderation, tabulation, and declaration of results
  2. Appoint paper-setters, examiners, moderators, and referees from approved panels
  3. Remove or debar paper-setters, examiners, or moderators for valid reasons
  4. Constitute subject-wise committees for appointment of examiners and preparation of question papers
  5. Approve and implement examination reforms, including AI-based question banks and online assessments
  6. Ensure centralized or on-screen evaluation of answer books
  7. Investigate examination-related malpractices and lapses and take disciplinary action
  8. Maintain strict vigilance and confidentiality during pre-examination, examination, and post-examination stages
  9. Prepare financial estimates related to examinations and submit them to the Board of Management
  10. Exercise all other powers related to examinations as assigned under the Act, Statutes, Ordinances, and Regulations

Procedure of Functioning

Meetings

  • The Board of Examinations shall meet as and when required, depending on examination schedules and operational needs.

Quorum

  • One-third of the total members shall constitute the quorum for meetings.

Decision-Making

  • Decisions are taken through formal resolutions and recorded in minutes.
  • In case of urgency, the Chairperson or an authorized officer may take immediate action, which shall be reported in the next meeting.

Committees & Operational Process

Subject-wise committees are constituted for:

  • Preparation of examiner panels
  • Selection of paper-setters and moderators
  • Secure handling of question papers
  • Complaints and disciplinary matters are handled through designated inquiry committees.

Secretariat & Communication

The Controller of Examinations, as Member Secretary, is responsible for:

  • Issuing examination notifications
  • Coordinating examination conduct
  • Maintaining confidentiality and records
  • Communicating results, schedules, and examination-related decisions
